Feeling Out Of Your Depth
13 I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Romans 15:13

Do you ever feel like Peter as he walked on water, completely out of your depth, surrounded by storms and on the knife edge of faith? There are moments in life when all that you can do is to keep your eyes fixed on Jesus and that is enough to keep you going. However, you know that all it would take it one moment and you could fall apart.

Have you ever tried to juggle? I can manage two balls but when you add a third, I suddenly find myself dropping them all. I think that we can all cope when there is a challenge in one area of our lives. We can focus and bring courage to deal with the problem. However, when there are challenges in multiple areas all around you If can drain you of hope, peace and joy.

When life is overwhelming, you don’t need new information but a new revelation of God’s goodness alongside you. To the church in Rome, struggling with division and tensions, persecuted for their faith, surrounded by challenges on every side, he prays a simple prayer. Read it slowly and allow the words to speak to your soul and the Holy Spirit to fill you afresh this morning, ready for the day ahead.

13 I pray that God, the source of hope,
will fill you completely with joy
and peace
because you trust in him.
Then you will overflow with confident hope
through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Romans 15:13
